In line with the 2th Istanbul Design Biennial’s appointed main title “The Future Is Not What Is Used To Be”, our faculty’s Department of Industrial Design and Department of Fashion Design opened up its floors for a discussion among its students on the concept of “Future” and its implications on their respective disciplines and mediums.
During this creative process, students agreed upon a number of keywords such as “Chaos”, “Order”, “Technology”, “Time” and “Alienation” as notions associated with the concept of “Future”, from which emerged projects on fashion design seeking to capture these notions in material form, interactive game design projects investigating the correlations between the real and the virtual, and abstract spatial notations ready to be transformed into objects or models of interior design.
Student works developed for the exhibition are initially aimed to express unique statements on future, with the underlying intention of experimenting with our ability to interpret and perceive the present.
